Knitted ipod Cover
Here’s a little pic of a mini-project that I did when my lovely hubbie got me a new ipod for my birthday in April. I wanted something to protect it from scratches (and also cos I am quite good at dropping it!) and so I decided to knit a cover with some leftover sock yarn that I had got to make bookmarks for my friends at christmas.
Anyway, it turned out quite good. I made a little rope with the same wool and added a pretty button to keep it all secure. Works a treat – even if it does make everyone else laugh!! I just like the juxtaposition of the forefront of technology nestling safely in a pouch made from one of the oldest crafts around… xx
Decoupage Delight
Having been bogged down in Open University TMA stress for the past few months, I haven’t been very crafty of late. all that changed however with the dawning of Jo’s 30th birthday. Not being able to let the side down, I decided to turn my hand to some papier mache and decoupage, something I haven’t done for ages.
I’d saved a plastic cotton bud pot which I thought was just the right size for a pen pot and being as Jo has recently moved into her new flat/cave, I wanted to make her one for her new desk/dining table/writing space.
I covered it in about 8 layers of papier mache (newspaper & PVA solution) and then 2 layers of pale pink paper. I painted the inside and bottom with dark purple acrylic paint and added a small ring of pink, leopard print paper at the bottom and then I adorned it with a mini-Jo that I had saved from the girt wrapping on a Lush gift box. With the addition of some flowers, hearts and butterflies and a few sparkly pink gems, it was done!!
It travelled down to Falmouth with me last weekend for the birthday celebrations and survived a couple of accidents on the way – phew!
Hope you like it Jo Jo! xxx
